About Siân Griffiths
Born in Brighton, East Sussex, and brought up in a musical family, Siân learnt violin and singing from a young age. Throughout school Siân sang and played in the orchestra but it wasn't until her gap year performing with Glyndebourne Youth Opera in their production of Julian Philip's Knight Crew that Siân realised that this was what she wanted to do for a career.
Siân went on to study Ancient History at The University of Reading, where she was awarded a music scholarship and performed in the University Chamber Choir. In her second year she was awarded the University of a Reading Concerto Award, giving her the opportunity to perform Handel's Let The Bright Seraphim with the University of Reading Chamber Orchestra at the University of Reading Summer Concert in 2012. Other highlights from this time include performing Schubert's Shepherd On The Rock at a Lunchtime Recital at the University of Reading, as well as Soloist in Charpentier’s Te Deum and Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise both with the University of Reading Choir.
This summer, Siân will be performing as Cenerentola in British Youth Opera’s production of La Cenerentola and Chorus of Opera Holland Park’s production of Iolanta.
Concert experience includes Fundraising Concert for the National Eisteddfod of Wales at Llanidloes, Powys (May, 2015), International Charity Gala Concert at Shrewsbury School (November, 2015), and Fundraising Concert for New Sussex Opera at the Steyning Centre (May, 2016).
